To support work in favor of vulnerable human communities and the conservation of nature in the Americas.

OUR HISTORY

On April 16, 2016, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit the coast of Ecuador killing more than 700 people and leaving 40,000 people homeless. Immediately individuals and communities in the United States began supporting humanitarian efforts in Ecuador. One innovative initiative was the CAEMBA project which builds shelters, homes, schools and community centers using bamboo as the primary material.

In October 2016, the non-profit Fundación Raiz Ecuador was created to manage the CAEMBA project and initiatives favoring indigenous and disadvantaged communities in Ecuador.

In December 2017, the non-profit Raíz Foundation, Inc. was created in the State of New York. It qualifies as tax-exempt under Section 501 (c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
